ASIMO THE ASTRONAUT ASIMO is a humanoid robot created by the Honda Motoring Company in Japan. He looks like a small astronaut and is 130cm tall, 45cm wide and weighs 54kg! SPORTING SKILLZ Due to a stable centre of gravity, ASIMO can run at speeds of up to 6km per hour! ASIMO can also walk continuously and smoothly at 2.7km per hour, plus climb stairs and play sports like soccer. 'BOT BEGINNINGS The very first experimental model ASIMO robot was unveiled way back in 1986, while the latest ASIMO model - pictured here - was unveiled just a few years ago in 2005. ASIMO has got a big brain! He can exchange information with humans by using an IC communication card. This means he can understand and perform tasks based on simple voice commands that have been programmed into his memory. COOL MOVES ASIMO can shake hands, bow and wave.
