• Hanging With Adam and Ash, and GameFest's Emma and Jackson

    by Aideen | Mar 07, 2017

Hey K-Zoners! In my hunt for everything awesome, I thought I’d try to sneak onto the cool new Hanging With set and search for all the secrets I could find! Guess what? Total sneaky success! Check out all the behind the scenes action below!

Emma and Jackson, the major gaming legends who host Gamefest on Disney XD, were on the Hanging With set to film their great game segment on the show. Things were tense as they faced off against Adam and Ash in a gaming showdown – no one wanted to lose, coz the punishment was eating a gross dish voted for by the viewers!

Adam and Ash versus Emma and Jackson! Who will win? Tune in to Hanging With today at 4:30pm on Disney Channel to see Emma and Jackson play Super Mario Run against Adam and Ash!

I’ve got a behind the scenes Easter egg for you, K-Zoners. Watch this pin art toy on the table each episode, coz the Hanging With gang change the image every time! This episode it’s a game controller, but sometimes it can be a hand, or even someone’s face if they push it into the screen!

    Fun Fact!

Ash loves zombies! There's a hidden zombie on one of the shelves on this secret door. Can you spot it? What if I show you a closer look!

    Did You Know?

Ash and Jackson play on an AFL team together, and Ash taught Jackson to snorkel!

Want another Easter egg? Of course you do! Keep an eye out for a disco ball change up! Ash accidentally broke the original disco ball while playing handball in the fifth episode this season, so now there’s a new decoration on set! Oops…

Jackson was busy playing games in between rehearsals, classic gamer move!

    Fave Hanging With Set Piece

Adam loves the CO2 canister that pushes smoke through the doors when they open!

Ash rates this photo from the photo wall!

Grossest Food Eaten on Hanging With

Adam had to eat blue cheese!

Ash has eaten ox tongue and chicken feet!

These hanging (LOL) chairs are perfect for dramatic turns to camera by the Hanging With hosts!

Tune in to Disney Channel every second Tuesday at 4:30pm to see Gamefests Emma and Jackson on Hanging With, and every other weekday arvo for even more hosts and cool segments!

Want more of Emma and Jackson on Hanging With and Gamefest? Keep checking the mag and for more cool deets and interviews!

  • Trollhunters Is Awesome

    by Aideen | Dec 27, 2016

Hi K-Zoners! I hope you’re having an awesome time on school holidays!

I’ve been loving the new series Trollhunters, which was released last week! Trollhunters is all about ordinary teenager Jim Lake Jr., who stumbles upon a magical amulet that makes him the Trollhunter, protector of the secret civilisation of trolls living beneath his town. As the first human to have the title of Trollhunter, Jim must protect humans and good trolls alike from powerful enemies, in a magical war!

I wanted to give you six reasons why you should check out the show!

    The Enemies

Bular, the main villain, is totally intense and has an army of henchmen helping him with his quest for revenge!

    The World
The secret world of the trolls is really amazing - I wish I could visit it and hang out with all the trolls in the giant gem-covered city!

    Magical Amulets

The Trollhunter's magical amulet gives the holder awesome powers!

    Magical Armour
Like crazy magical armour, for example!

    Magical Swords
Or a giant sword perfect for protecting innocent humans and trolls with!

    The LOLs
But the most important reason is, the amount of times you'll laugh really hard! This show delivers so many LOLs in every episode!

Trolhunters is available on Netflix now!

Are you watching Trollhunters, or going to check it out? Let me know in the comments below!
  • The Most Fantastic Beasts

    by | Dec 20, 2016

Hi K-Zoners! You’ve probably noticed by now that I have great taste in everything awesome (and clearly so do you if you’re reading this!), so I thought I would put myself to the test.

I am going to rank seven beasts in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, from still-a-favourite-but-just-not-the-most to my absolute most favourite… Look, I really love all the creatures in Newt’s suitcase so this is going to be difficult!

If you haven’t seen the movie, be warned! There may be spoilers below! If you have seen the movie, you should totally let me know in the comments what your favourite beast is – or tell me your own personal ranking for these seven!

    7. Swooping Evil

This magical creature is pretty dangerous, but I’m a big fan of how it helped Newt and Tina while they were cornered in the MACUSA headquarters.

    6. Demiguise

Being able to turn invisible and see the future is a pretty cool combo of powers, and I really loved how caring and cheeky the Demiguise was in the movie! Especially when we found out that it was looking after the next beast…

    5. Occamy

A choranaptyxic creature, the Occamy can grow or shrink to fit available space, and the scene where Newt and the team try to capture it had me on the edge of my seat!

    4. Thunderbird

The Thunderbird in the movie, Frank, was rescued from traffickers in Egypt by Newt, and is such a beautiful beast! I loved seeing Frank fly around New York, creating a thunderstorm with his six wings. Frank is a bit of a hero!

    3. Erumpent

The scene with the Erumpent in Central Park Zoo was so funny AND terrifying at the same time. The fact that Erumpents can use their horn to inject things with a fluid that makes things explode is also just insanely cool!

    2. Niffler

I mean, what else can I say except that the Niffler scenes were probably some of the absolute best parts of the whole movie.

    1. Bowtruckle

Now, I know I just said Nifflers were amazing, but every time I saw Pickett, the Bowtruckle that was too attached to leave his hiding spot in Newt’s top pocket, I wished I had my own little Bowtruckle to hang out with! Imagine all the sneaky pranks and adventures you could have if you had a Bowtruckle helping you!

Let me know in the comments below how you would rank these seven beasts!

Psst! If youre a Potterhead, I just HAD to mention that I chose seven beasts because seven is the most powerful magical number in the wizarding world!

  • Rogue One Sydney Premiere

    by Aideen | Dec 15, 2016

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is nearly here, blasting into our lives on the big screen at hyperdrive levels of speed! As one lucky nerf-herder, I was able to attend the Sydney premiere of the movie last night, and my brain is still totally melted from the experience.

There was an awesome red carpet, a stack of black Death Troopers, and heaps of people in costume – including a group of rebels who started flipping off parts of the building and battling Imperial soldiers! Crazy stuff!

The most important part was obviously the actual movie, and here is my spoiler-free review… Rogue One is AWESOME! One of my favourite Star Wars movies ever!

    Aideen Rogue One

Big happy Star Wars grins at the Rogue One premiere!

I’m going to need to figure out where it ranks among all the other awesome films in my personal faves, which will be a great activity to work on while I add all my new Rogue One character figurines to my collection.

If you know me (and you’re reading my Blog of Awesome, so you probs do) I am a major robot fanatic, and Star Wars droids always steal my heart. K-2SO is no exception! That droid is funny and fantastic! I also seriously loved Jyn Erso and Chirrut Imwe, as well as Bodhi and Baze and Cassian… Okay, so I loved everyone in it!

Are you going to watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story? Have you already seen it? I would love to see what you think of the movie, so leave a spoiler free comment below!

  • Behind the Scenes at KOOZA by Cirque du Soleil

    by Aideen | Oct 18, 2016

Hi K-Zoners! You know the drill – I hear about awesome stuff, and I hunt it down for you to read about here on the blog!

Well, when I heard KOOZA by Cirque du Soleil was headed to Australia, I knew I had to sneak behind the scenes to get all the deets – because trust me, there is nothing more awesome than this show! Don’t believe me? Check out all the crazy performances that are part of KOOZA!

    Wheel of Death KOOZA

The Wheel of Death is a pair of wheels spinning at speed through the air, and two performers flip and jump around inside or ON TOP OF those wheels! For real! They move so fast they’re practically a blur!

I got to watch the performers practising their stunts on the Wheel while tiptoeing around backstage, and I filmed some sneaky video for you! This is only a tiny bit of what they can do in the Wheel, but I don't want to spoil too many of the show's amazing secrets!

I also caught up with Jimmy Ibarra, one of the Wheel of Death performers, and he shared a tip for any K-Zoners who want to work on the Wheel one day:

"The mental comes before the physical. If you can control your nerves, you can be a great performer, because in the moment controlling your nerves matters just as much as spending time training beforehand."

Jimmy also told me all about what it’s like to defy danger – if you want to read more of my interview with Jimmy, make sure you grab the November issue of K-Zone!

    Highwire KOOZA

Photos: Matt Beard Costumes: Marie-Chantale Vaillancourt ©2012 Cirque du Soleil

Amazing performers also do tricks on the high wire – would you believe me if I told you they ride a bike on the wire? It’s all true!

    Unicycle KOOZA

Photos: Matt Beard Costumes: Marie-Chantale Vaillancourt ©2012 Cirque du Soleil

If you head to KOOZA, you’ll also see some crazy unicycle stunts on stage – these two totally defy physics!

    Contortion KOOZA

Photos: Matt Beard Costumes: Marie-Chantale Vaillancourt ©2012 Cirque du Soleil

Plus, the contortionists don’t even make sense! It’s totally incred what they can do! Don’t try this at home!

Now do you understand what I mean when I say KOOZA is seriously awesome? These are only a few of the performances you can see at KOOZA! I had such a great time hanging out backstage, and I even got to see the premiere of the show in Sydney! It was the coolest show ever and now, I want to learn how to do cool tricks too!

If you want to see KOOZA, go to to catch the show in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth!

Let me know in the comments below if you want to see KOOZA, or if you're going to see a show!

    by Aideen | Sep 30, 2016
Potterheads, gather round and feast your eyes on a brand new Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer!

I hope you’re ready to spend the rest of the school holidays thinking obsessively about having your own sanctuary for magical creatures, hidden inside a suitcase!

I have already watched this trailer 10 times (wait I’m watching it again right now too) and I officially cannot wait any longer for the movie to come out. Hurry up already!

What was your favourite part of the trailer? Let me know in the comments K-Zoners! Aideen out!

    by Aideen | Sep 26, 2016
Hi K-Zoners! A lot of you are probably on school holidays right now, or don’t have long to go until they start! What are your holiday plans? Let me know in the comments below coz I’d love to hear what cool stuff you have planned!

Speaking of cool plans, fans of slime and music packed into Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena yesterday for Nickelodeon’s SLIMEFEST!

Even before I was slimed on the set of Nickelodeon’s SLIME CUP, I was a massive fan of all things slime-related, so I think some of the photos from the concert are totally hilare and I had to share them.

The SLIME SQUAD was responsible for all the epic sliming at SLIMEFEST. What a job!

Delta Goodrem opened the show with her new song, and slime flew out of her piano when she played! I need one of those… Anyway, it didn’t take long before the SLIME SQUAD dumped massive buckets of green slime all over her! Don’t believe that’s Delta under there?

How about now? She made it out from under a little bit of all that slime. Still a lot left though...

The boys from In Stereo got in on the slime action too.

But in the end, the awesome audience seemed to get most of the slime on them! How seriously fun does this look!

If you want to experience the slime for yourself, SLIMEFEST is heading to Sydney for two shows on Friday, September 30 at 11am and 6pm!

Or, if you want to sit back on the couch and watch the action totally slime-less, you can catch SLIMEFEST airing exclusively on Nickelodeon on Friday September 30 at 6pm!

  • New Moana Trailer

    by Aideen | Sep 19, 2016

Get this – 3000 years ago, the greatest sailors in the world took voyages across the Pacific Ocean, discovering the many islands of Oceania. Suddenly, for a millennium (that’s 1000 years) those epic voyages stopped… and no one knows why.

Sounds pretty mysterious to me – I reckon someone should make a movie about that. Oh wait, they totally have! It’s called Moana, and you should check out the trailer below!

Moana is all about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people, and on her journey she meets the demigod Maui – who is voiced by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson!

The Rock is only one of my absolute favourite human beings in the entire universe, so I am beyond excited to see the character he voices in action on the big screen!

Maui helps Moana in her quest to become a master wayfinder, and together they sail across the ocean in a huge adventure! Gigantic monsters and impossible tasks lie ahead for this courageous pair!

What do you think of the trailer K-Zoners? Let me know in the comments if you’re keen to watch Moana this December!

  • Dawn of the Croods Is Back

    by Aideen | Aug 26, 2016

I’m breaking the rules again (to quote the great Jyn Erso, “I rebel”) and posting a blog on a Friday! But it’s for a good reason, I promise. I’ve spent all week wondering what I’m going to do over the weekend, and now my question has been answered!

There’s an all-new season of Dawn of the Croods premiering today (August 26) on Netflix! Looks like I have the perfect show (and excuse) to sit on the couch and marathon.

To celebrate, I’ve got a clip from the episode ‘The First Dance Party’ to show you! The episode is all about how Grug bans dancing (uhh, boooo), then goes undercover with Snoot at Eep’s invite-only underground dance club. Check it out!

  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

    by Aideen | Aug 23, 2016

Hi K-Zoners! That’s right, I’m back – did you miss me? I missed writing about everything awesome in my blog the past few weeks. I actually went overseas and had to survive with barely any internet THE WHOLE TIME. It was madness! I couldn’t even play Pokémon GO because it isn’t available in some countries, so I have some serious training to catch up on!

I’m amazed I made it back alive, but here I am, and I’ve got something seriously awesome to talk about – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

     Rogue One Death Star

A new trailer was released recently, and if you haven’t seen it what are you doing? Here it is, so you can watch it for the first time, or the hundredth time (like me)!

I’m going to try really hard not to spoil anything, but how about that ending? Did your brain just explode? Mine did the first time I watched it! Then it kept exploding every time I replayed the trailer.

     Mind blown

Besides the obviously epic final reveal, this trailer shows us a lot of new details, like the U-Wing taking off, the new desert planet featured in the movie, and the awesome new droid K-2SO. I think K-2 is going to be making me laugh a lot when I finally get to see Rogue One in cinemas!

We have to wait until December 15 to be able to see the film, but if you want more details before then, keep an eye on the Blog of Awesome and new issues of K-Zone in the lead up to the release of Rogue One!

    by Aideen | Jul 08, 2016

Nickelodeon searched all over Australia and New Zealand to find teams of awesome kids to compete in the craziest, slimiest challenges of all in SLIME CUP!

Episodes of SLIME CUP air every Friday from 5:30pm, so you better keep your eyeballs peeled to watch all 16 teams of BFFs compete for the chance to win! The victorious duo will have the honour of being the Guardians of Slime at SLIMEFEST 2016, just one of the coolest prizes ever!

To make it to the end of SLIME CUP, the competitors will need speed, smarts and stomachs of steel – easy, right? Well, I headed over to the filming of SLIME CUP to take a peek behind the scenes. The best part? I got to represent Team K-Zone and race through the Stage One obstacle course. Major dream come true! Check out the video below!

First was trial by wire! If I hit a single wire, I would set off a colour bomb – it was basically like trying to get through a laser grid in a spy movie, but with more exploding colour powder.

Then, I had to climb over the logs through the pool of slime, all while being sprayed with a super strong slime hose. After the logs, it was up the really slippery nose run to the top of slide, where I had to dig a booger out of the giant nose!

I grabbed a booger, and waited for my teammate Jess to run the course so we could high-five our boogers together at the top of the slide. Once that was done, we ran back to the start to pull the slime crank and stop the clock.

By the end, we were covered in slime and colour bomb powder, and totally freezing. It was awesome!

Want more slime in your life? Tune in to SLIME CUP, Fridays at 5:30pm on Nickelodeon!
