Yesterday daredevil Felix Baumgartner went faster than the speed of sound as he JUMPED FROM THE EDGE OF SPACE!
His epic freefall started at more than 39 kilometres above earth and lasted for four minutes and 20 seconds before he released his parachute.
Way back in September we featured Felix's crazy dream in K-Zone: he wanted to break FOUR world records!
His dream was to:
- Be in the highest manned balloon flight
- Freefall from the highest altitude
- Be the first person to freefall faster than the speed of sound
- Achieve the longest freefall time - about five minutes 30 seconds
So did he do it?
He smashed the record for the highest manned balloon flight, smashed the sound barrier and definitely freefell from the highest altitude. His freefall time? Just under the five minute 30 second record.
Three out of four goals achieved - WAHOO!
Felix back on earth - reckon he was feeling preeeeetty stoked!
