KZ: Hi Tucker! What experience did you have before becoming The Incredible Hulk?
T: I went to school for Theatre Performance, so luckily I have quite a lot of performing under my belt! I have been working professionally as an actor, host, and improviser since 2017. This is the first stunt show I have been involved in, and I am lucky to be in the biggest and best!
KZ: How did you become the Hulk?
T: There is a lot that goes into the casting decisions for each role, especially one as important as the strongest Avenger! I had the skills to fill many of the ensemble roles, but there wasn’t an obvious fit for me in the cast right away. At one of the auditions, the Fight Choreographer pulled me aside and asked if I knew how to walk on stilts, to which I responded ‘No, but I will learn right away.’ I bought a pair of stilts and taught myself in my apartment. Now I can wear stilts while I walk, run, pick people up, and perform in a 97kg Hulk costume. I joined in the spring of 2023!
KZ: What is the best part of performing in Marvel Universe LIVE!, and the hardest?
T: The best part is getting to see the world! I have loved getting to explore, see the sights, and try new foods on our days off. The most challenging part is being on the other side of the world from my friends and family. What helps with that challenge is that we have created our own little family on tour so that definitely helps from being homesick.
KZ: If you could be another character in Marvel Universe LIVE!, who would it be?
T: That would be a two-way tie between Green Goblin and Drax the Destroyer. Green Goblin has one of my favourite fights in the whole show, the way he moves looks so fun, and I would love to give my own touch to the character. Drax (and the Guardians) is comedic relief in the show but also takes on multiple Chitauri at a time in some of the most exciting moments.
KZ: What has been the biggest challenge when performing the show?
T: Pacing myself! The show is long and very demanding, and sometimes we have three of them a day! As a performer in the show, we need to know how much more we can push in certain moments, and how and when we need to breathe.
KZ: How long have you been performing in Marvel Universe LIVE!, and what has been your favourite location so far?
T: I joined the cast in the spring of 2023, and the tour kicked off in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia that September. My favourite place I have visited on tour was Dubai, UAE. Dubai was absolutely beautiful, and there was so much to do and see; it seemed like around every corner there was some sort of art display, fountain show, or a car that I could only ever dream of owning. Some of the cast and crew rented out a yacht for an evening ride in the Persian Gulf, and that is an experience I will never forget.
KZ: What are you looking forward to seeing in Australia?
T: Australia has been the country I have wanted to visit the most in my life, and I am so excited to be able to go! There are so many things I want to see: the Sydney Opera House, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Kangaroo Island, but I think I am most excited to go scuba diving in the Pacific Ocean. There are only a few tickets left for our Australia shows, so don’t miss out.
