KZ: Hi Yonas! If you were ambassador for Earth in the Communiverse, which food would you recommend to aliens?
Y: A classic American burger. Actually, I don’t even know if it’s American, because someone was telling me they are actually German, or from somewhere else. But classic cheeseburger, that’s one of my favourites. And a place to visit… probably the most fun place on Earth, Disneyland.
KZ: Elio loves talking about aliens and going to space! Which personal interest could you talk about for hours?
Y: I’ve been getting into dirt biking, and I feel like I chat about that with my friends all the time. I’ve been learning all the parts, what they do, and I can chat about that for a long time. I like to do it in my free time, so on and off for about a year now, whenever I have time on weekends to hang out with my friends.
KZ: What do you hope K-Zoners think when they finish watching Elio?
Y: I hope they feel a roller coaster of emotions! I mean this movie (just like any other Pixar movie), they do a really great job of communicating all different emotions. I hope people leave the cinema talking about when they’ll watch the movie again. I hope the main takeaway is how important your friends and family are, and if you’re feeling lonely or if you’re going through grief like Elio, it’s all going to be okay at the end of the day.
KZ: Is there a fun detail that K-Zoners should know or look out for while watching the movie?
Y: There are a lot of Easter eggs I’m slowly starting to learn about, but I know that there are E.T. references, so E.T. fans might see some in the movie. At this point I’ve seen the movie once, but I was focusing on how amazing the animation was and the performance from all the other actors. So I definitely have to see it again to look out for Easter eggs more. One fun fact is that Elio was named as a reference to Elliot from E.T. and then that was shortened down.
