The A-Z Of Pokémon Legends: Z-A

The A-Z Of Pokémon Legends: Z-A

We flip the alphabet back around and break down the deets of this new game from start to finish! Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition are available now!

Az: Owner of Hotel Z, over 2.7 metres tall and apparently 3000 years old.

Battle Zones: At night, Battle Zones appear for the Z-A Royale, where trainers can challenge to Pokémon battles. Advance from Rank Z to Rank A via promotion battles.

Corbeau: You face this Trainer in a promotion match. Corbeau likes Poison-types, and seems to be up to something in the city...

Dragonite: Thanks to Mega Evolution, Dragonite flies faster and farther!

Emma: The city’s best detective needs help. Aid Emma by tracking missing Pokémon, locating lost items, and battling Pokémon!

Floette: An unusual ‘Eternal Flower Floette’ (who holds a black flower) is Az’s partner Pokémon.

Gardevoirite Stone: Psst! Until February 28, 2026, you can receive a Ralts holding a Gardevoirite Stone in the Physical and Digital Versions of Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Choose ‘Get via Internet’ in the Mystery Gift feature! Through training, Ralts can evolve into Kirlia, then Gardevoir. If Gardevoir holds a Gardevoirite stone, it can Mega Evolve!

Hawlucha: Before Mega Evolving, Hawlucha sometimes let its guard down while parading flashy moves, but now Mega Hawlucha can show off to its opponent and Trainer!

Input: Challenge friends in Private Battles, by inputting a ‘Link Code’ to connect. Adjust the battle rules, then battle up to three other players!

Jett: The CEO of the corporation behind the city’s redevelopment, who wants to deepen bonds between Pokémon and people.

Key Stone: When worn by a Trainer, it can resonate with a Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, leading to Mega Evolution. Eventually, you’ll wear a Mega Ring with your Key Stone in it.

Lumiose City: The setting for Pokémon Legends: Z-A! The game takes place in the Kalos region (based on France) with a focus on Lumiose City (AKA Paris). This region was introduced in Pokémon X and Y in 2013.

Mega Evolution: You’ll see Pokémon experience this Evolution, which goes beyond the limits of standard Evolution and grants greater power by unleashing a Pokémon’s hidden energy. Pokémon change appearance when they Mega Evolve (some may even change types)! For your Pokémon to Mega Evolve, they need to hold a ‘Mega Stone’, obtained in places like the Stone Emporium or by trading Mega Shards at Quasartico Inc. headquarters.

Nintendo Switch: Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition are available. If you own Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing an upgrade pack!

Outfit: Lumiose City is a fashion hub, so you’ll find a variety of clothing – just visit the boutiques!

Poké Balls: Psst! If you purchase the Digital Version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A or Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by February 28, 2026, you’ll receive a serial code (valid until March 10, 2026) for a gift of 100 Poké Balls!

Quasartico Inc: This company is running the urban redevelopment project in Lumiose City!

Rust Syndicate: This menacing organisation operates within Lumiose City, and is led by Corbeau, who seems to have a grudge against Team MZ.

Starters: At the start of the game, the three Pokémon available are Totodile and Chikorita (from Pokémon Gold and Silver) and Tepig (from Pokémon Black and White)!

Technical Machines: To help Mable, the director of the Pokémon Research Lab, you’ll complete ‘research requests’ and earn Technical Machines (TMs) plus other rewards. TMs teach your Pokémon moves they might not learn by levelling up!

Urbain or Taunie: Your new friend (Urbain or Taunie) lives and works at Hotel Z. The appearance you choose for your character will determine which friend you’ll meet!

Victreebel: The energy of Mega Evolution produces so much acid in Mega Victreebel’s body, it has to wrap its own throat to stop acid from spilling out!

Wild Zones - There are ‘wild zones’ in Lumiose City to help humans and Pokémon live together. In wild zones, you battle and catch Pokémon!

X: Keep an eye out for Charizards, since they have twice as many Mega Evolutions (Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y), making a Rogue Mega Evolution by this Pokémon even harder to prepare for!

Y: The Pokémon Legends: Z-A Physical Version included Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y figurines!

Zygarde: This Legendary Pokémon might take an interest in you…
