Want to say ‘high there’ to other characters? Simply go up to them and press the punch button and you’ll high five them! This works on all sorts of creatures, from monkey miners to Rambi and even a Teeleport eel! Cranky Kong’s not a fan though. Nor are Fractones, as they’re not punch proof! It’s okay though, they can reform!

DK SMASH!

If you’re having fun smashing up the world, keep going! There’s no harm in getting more gold and Banandium chips. Plus, you can always reset the terrain by hitting the + button while on the map screen. Not only does this give you fresh ground to dig through but it also resets gold deposits and offers up more chances to find treasure chests!

SPOILED FOR CHOICE

Every five Banandium gems you collect will collar you a skill point. Feel free to experiment with any and all options as you can always reset your selections for free and put your points into different stuff. How? Chat to one of the Elders after completing their ancient record quest and it’ll be a conversation choice.

ANCIENT FASHION

Fossils let you purchase new outfits with all sorts of perks. Our advice? Forget fashion and choose the perks with the greatest gifts to gameplay. Early on, the Treasure Tie is a must-buy for turning up more treasure chests, which in turn means bonus maps, gold and other goodies. Find more fossils in the Lagoon Layer to upgrade it further!

SUPERB SHUT-EYE

Spend gold on Getaways! The more of these humble homes you have in a layer the more bonus hearts you’ll get after using their beds to zonk out for some zees. Getaways also give you access to shops and act as fast travel points. From Canyon Layer onwards, keep your eyes (not bananas) peeled for a house-shaped Fractone who’ll hook you up!

SAFE LANDINGS

Balloons will save you if you fall off the map so it’s always a good idea to have a bevy of them in your inventory. Another option while falling is to quickly go to the map screen, then teeleport out of danger! You can use this tricksy tactic for other perilous predicaments too, such as languishing in lava or freezing in frosty water.
