Football! In Australia and New Zealand, no one really knows what sport you’re talking about when you say this word. There’s soccer, NRL, rugby union, AFL... They all involve your feet and some kind of ball. And they are all awesome. I seriously rate them all! Anyway, here’s what I’ve been watching and looking forward to this week…
LA LIGA
I was so stoked that Barcelona shook off their recent poor form to THUMP Deportivo 8-0. Luis Suárez scored four goals and assisted three. What a legend. Here he is celebrating after the opening goal.
RUGBY UNION
This one is especially exciting for peeps that love sport and games (like me!). A new Rugby Challenge 3 hits shelves today and I will probably spend a fair chunk of my weekend playing it. It’s a rugby simulation game, so you can create your own players and teams, which is super cool. It also has a Be a Pro Mode, so you join a club as a rookie and work your way up over 13 seasons. It’s on Xbox One, 360, PS4 and PS3, so get into it!
AFL
I can’t wait to watch the Sydney Swans take on the West Coast Eagles at the SCG on Saturday. The Swannies are currently third on the ladder and the Eagles are sixth. Last time these two teams played, the Eagles took the win. The Swans have a home ground advantage this time around though! Who will you be cheering for?
NRL
If league is your code of choice, don’t miss the Cronulla Sharks and the Penrith Panthers going head-to-head this weekend. Looking at the stats, these teams have played 29 games, with the Sharks winning 15, the Panthers winning 13… and if you’re good at maths you’ll notice that only adds up to 28! That means they’ve tied once. I’m predicting it’ll be a close one, and it will deffo be more exciting than Saturday’s Cowboys vs Eels match. The Cowboys have it in the bag!
Have a great weekend, guys! Good luck for your matches!
