Hi K-Zoners!
I’ve had Star Wars on the brain for months now, and I’m sure a lot of you can relate. I keep finding myself wishing I lived in the world of Star Wars, so I thought I’d share my ultimate Star Wars: The Force Awakens themed trip around the world! While the movie locations look seriously out of this world, a lot of the amazing places exist right here on Earth!
A quick warning K-Zoners before you go any further! There could possibly be spoilers in this list if you haven’t seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so be careful!
Here are three IRL filming locations from The Force Awakens that you could visit one day!

Star Wars location: Jakku, Western Reaches
Earth location: Rub’ al Kahli Desert, Abu Dhabi
Rey’s desert home planet was filmed in the world’s largest sand desert, full of beautiful sand dunes and covered with unusual reddish-orange sand.

Star Wars location: Takodana, Mid Rim
Earth location: Puzzlewood, Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England
The forest around Maz Kanata’s castle was filmed on a woodland site with a seriously magical sounding name! Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, said that the filmmakers were looking for ‘the most magical forest on the face of the earth’. We think they succeeded!

Star Wars location: Unnamed
Earth location: Skellig Michael, Ireland
A major scene in the movie shows a remote, rocky island – one of my favourite locations in the Star Wars universe so far. This crazy island covered in 618 steep steps is called Skellig Michael, and can be found off the coast of Ireland!
What Star Wars location, either on Earth or in the universe, would you want to live in? I like Hoth – I love the cold, and snow!
