Eat Like A Champ!

Eat Like A Champ!

Delicious advice from AFL legends!

If you’ve picked up the latest issue of K-Zone, you’ve probably seen the epic Footy Fuel story we did with Callan Ward (Greater Western Sydney Giants), Angus Litherland (Hawthorn Hawks) and Jamie Elliott (Collingwood Magpies). It was a lot of fun following these dudes around to see what they chow down on before a big game!

You might not have really thought about it before, but nutrition is a super important part of sport. If you make healthy food choices, your body will reward you AND you’ll play like a champ.

Jamie says, “Eat lots of vegies and fruit, and keep away from fast food! Looking after yourself, and being in control of what you put into your body, is very important!”

Angus also thinks eating fruit and veg is the key to success. He even visits schools across the country to teach K-Zoners (and yes, even non-K-Zoners) about food, hydration and exercise. “My teammates and I visit various schools throughout the season and talk about living a healthy lifestyle, as well as showing them some basic AFL drills.”

Callan says, “Carbs are the same as petrol for a car.” Ha! Make sure you have a decent meal before a game so you have lots of energy to run, tackle, shoot, score and just generally be awesome.

Good luck with your games on the weekend, K-Zoners!
