The Socceroos have played their last football match on home turf before the 2014 World Cup begins (check out the official World Cup Socceroo Squad)!
The green and gold soccer team drew 1-1 against a 'friendly' South African team in front of 50,000 peeps at ANZ Stadium in Sydney, and what a game it was.
After both teams scored in the first half – striker, and captain for the night, Tim Cahill hit a header straight into the back of the net for the Aussies – our boys ran hard and tried their best in defence to hold the visitors scoreless in the second half and walk away with a draw.
Next up: after some rest and a long flight to Brazil, it’s the World Cup stage. Go Aussies! Go!
World Cup Word: FRIENDLY
A 'friendly' is a match between two teams that doesn’t affect any competition, no matter what the score ends up. Like when you play your bro in the backyard and don’t really keep count… Like that.Psst... love soccer? Check out the coolest pics from the A-League Soccer Finals, or get sweet FIFA 14 Game Skills.
