KZ: Hi Alexander! Can you share a secret from behind the scenes of making Peter Pan & Wendy?
A: Believe it or not, many of the rocks you will see in the film are actually made of a spongy material, painted over! Also, some of the ‘heavy wooden’ furniture that gets thrown around is made of foam. It looked so realistic!
KZ: How does it feel to have your own LEGO set?
A: It is insane for me to have my own LEGO set as I love LEGO so much!... I collect the Creator Expert buildings that come out in January every year and I also have several other sets like the Lion Knights Castle and the Star Wars Death Star. As I was missing my LEGO on set, our 2nd AD (Assistant Director) Dan, who was a big collector, lent me some of his LEGO (including the 7541 piece Millennium Falcon) for me to build. He even bagged up all the pieces like you would get in the box for a proper build experience! Thank you Dan!
KZ: If you had the ability to fly, where would you fly to first?
A: Los Angeles for Disneyland!
KZ: Aside from Neverland, which Disney location would you like to visit?
A: Radiator Springs from Cars. It was one of my favourite films growing up. Radiator Springs is so cosy and laid-back, and the Disneyland version is amazing!
KZ: What advice would you give to K-Zoners interested in acting?
A: Get involved with as much acting as possible. School productions, local groups etc. Also if there is an audition, just go for it even if you think you might not be right for the part! I never thought that I would actually get the role Peter Pan!
THE PETER PAN AND WENDY CAST MEMBER WHO IS MOST LIKELY TO…
Win in a sword fight: Peter Pan, of course! So me! However, Ever (Wendy) had some really cool moves and would be a fierce opponent whenever we had play fights.
Befriend a crocodile: Florence (Curly) as she loves animals and she’s really into dragons as well. And dragons are a bit like crocodiles aren’t they?!
Take the lead in a school project: Probably the twins, Kelsey and Skyler. We had a newspaper that the kids all ran, called the ‘Neverland News’ which we released monthly to all the cast and crew. Being the oldest, I was the lead editor, but everyone had their own roles, and we had some pretty good stories. The twins, however, were amazing in conducting interviews, writing articles, and overseeing production. They were brilliant!
Pull a prank: Me! Towards the end, crew members were extremely wary if they saw me coming. Some memorable ones include the classic Oreo with toothpaste, I injected soy sauce into a can of Coca-Cola and gave it to our 2nd AD (he didn’t fall for it), and I taped a balloon behind a door, with a pin on the handle to pop it when it opened. I put up a sign on the coffee machine in the kitchen saying that it was voice activated and hid round the corner to see what happened! Lots of people did fall for it!
Be really good at building LEGO: Apart from me, Jacobi (Michael) was a big LEGO fan and got a big Harry Potter set for his birthday when we were in Vancouver!
Peter Pan & Wendy is streaming from April 28 on Disney+!
