Meet DC Hero Blue Beetle

Meet DC Hero Blue Beetle

The Blue Beetle is the newest DC superhero to hit the big screen, following in the footsteps of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Shazam!

Did you know there have been three different characters in the role of 'Blue Beetle' through the history of DC comics?

The original was Dan Garrett, an archaeologist who gained crime-fighting powers from an ancient Scarab in an old Egyptian tomb. After Dan, Ted Kord fought crime as Blue Beetle with his brilliant wit, fists and lots of trusty gadgets (but no superpowers).

The third and most recent to carry the proud legacy of the Blue Beetle is Jaime Reyes, a normal teenager turned superhero. Jaime was granted incredible alien armour and superhuman abilities from the same ancient Scarab that was discovered by Dan Garrett!

Now, DC is creating a Blue Beetle movie, and Xolo Marideueña (who you may know from Cobra Kai) has been cast as the young superhero!

In the film, Jaime has recently graduated from college and returns home in hopes of a bright future. As Jaime begins his quest for his purpose in the world, he finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: The Scarab. The Scarab bites Jaime and transforms him into Blue Beetle! Now, Jaime has a futuristic alien superhero suit that protects him from danger, as well as enhanced vision (helpful for detecting possible threats).

These extraordinary powers change Jaime’s destiny, as he learns to use his abilities while dealing with forces that want to take his powers – like Victoria Kord and Conrad Carapax. Jaime has to find a way to deal with these new changes while trying to use his powers for good.

Blue Beetle hits cinemas September 14!
