Humanity is only days away from landing a spacecraft on a comet for the first time.
Back in August, the spacecraft Rosetta finally reached the comet ‘67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko’ (we can’t even say it) after chasing it through space for 10 years!
The next part of the Rosetta’s mission is to eject a robot called Philae towards the comet on November 12. If Philae lands safely, it would be the first touchdown on a comet in the history of space exploration!
The Philae robot is the same size as a washing machine, and recently took this totes amazing picture of comet 67P and Rosetta from its attachment point on the side of the spacecraft. The large rectangular shape is one of Rosetta’s solar wings. So cool!
