Our gold and green Socceroos hit the pitch for the first time over the weekend against Chile and what a game it was.
Although the score line didn’t really show it – we went down 3 to 1 – the Aussies sure did take it to the 'Fiery Ones' (the Chilean's nickname) with a bunch of strikes at goal by seasoned pro Mark Bresciano, just missing the net.
Tim Cahill scored a hectic header in the first half to keep the 14th ranked team on their toes. But in the end Chile scored again and took the points.
Gary Medel of Chile and Tim Cahill of Australia go up for a header during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Group B match between Chile and Australia at Arena Pantanal on June 13, 2014 in Cuiaba, Brazil.
Can’t wait to see what the Aussies will bring to their match against the Netherlands on Thursday morning (2:00am our time). We reckon those dudes in orange will have a battle on their hands for sure.
Aussie, Aussie, Aussie…
