Hi K-Zoners!
So many epic things have happened in the sporting world this week! Here are my highlights. Let me know what you’ve been watching and playing too!
MICK FANNING BECOMES A HERO… AGAIN
When surfer Evan Geiselman was wiped out during the Pipeline Masters in Hawaii on Tuesday and didn’t surface, a bunch of lifeguards and surfers (including Mick) ran into the waves to save him. Luckily, they did! Huge props for their quick thinking and bravery.
RAFA RETURNS
He’s had pretty much his worst season of all time, but I’m declaring it right here, right now: Rafael Nadal is back! At the International Premier Tennis League in the Philippines, Rafa easily had the play of the day with his amazing 22-shot rally, finishing it off with a forehand winner down the line and a fist pump!
BRENDON MCCULLUM NABS A WORLD RECORD
When the captain of the New Zealand cricket team walked onto Dunedin’s University Oval this morning, he made history by tying with AB de Villiers as the man to play the most consecutive Tests since his debut. Nice one!
DAVID POCOCK NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR
You might remember this legend from the Rugby World Cup. Seems the entire rugby world does too coz this Wallabies back rower has taken out the Rugby Union Players’ Association Medal for Excellence. Not a stranger to this award, he also won it in 2010. Oh, and he also topped the poll in the People’s Choice Award. Yep, this dude is on fire and having an incredible year!
