Prepare to cast a quick fireworks spell and whip up a celebratory cake in your cauldrons Potterheads – a new Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them trailer has dropped and it’s awesome!
This trailer shows heaps more than the first one – here are the little details I caught that I found most interesting!

Apparently Albus Dumbledore likes and trusts Newt Scamander! Since the movie is set in 1920, Dumbledore would have been a young teacher just starting at Hogwarts, so it sounds like he didn’t have the authority to stop Newt from being expelled, but it is definitely cool to hear Dumbledore mentioned, and to hear his opinion of the star of Fantastic Beasts!

This little magic latch that changes the appearance of Newt’s suitcase is very cool, but I also thought I’d mention that in America, where most of Fantastic Beasts is set, the wizards and witches that live there call people without magic ‘No-Maj’, so we may not see or hear the word ‘Muggles’ used very much!

If that headline is anything to go by, there’s a group of Muggles/No-Maj’s on the hunt for magic users! Also, it’s just really awesome to see a magical newspaper again!

This is Jacob Kowalski. While Harry Potter fans will know that there have been magical characters born to non-magical parents (like Hermione Granger), and non-magical characters born to magical parents (Squibs like Argus Filch), Jacob is the first Muggle/No-Maj character we will ever see in the magical world! He is a factory worker that meets Newt and somehow finds himself in a whole new world. Pretty lucky!

Finally! An actual fantastic beast on screen! Apparently this colourful bird-like creature is called a Swooping Evil, and it looks like Newt has released it to distract the people chasing him!

This scene is weird and pretty intense! Not sure what’s happening here, but it could be some kind of huge, invisible beast rampaging through the party? I’m keen to find out!

I was so excited when I saw this little beast slide across the floor – it has to be a Niffler! We’ve never gotten to see them in the movies but J.K. Rowling has mentioned them in the books – Nifflers are little rodents that love hunting for treasure (which would explain the purse it seems to have grabbed)! It reminds me of a hedgehog, without the spines – but twice the cute!
