A new exhibition in Sydney called The Art Of The Brick: DC Comics is taking LEGO building to a whole new extreme! Nathan Sawaya, an artist from New York has taken his love of comics and turned it into the coolest sculptures we’ve seen – entirely made of LEGO and inspired by DC superheros and their gadgets!
There are over 130 pieces at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, and it’s there until May 2016! Here are K-Zone’s top seven must-see artworks in the exhibition:
- The Batmobile. It’s life-sized and totally impressive – we just want to jump in and drive it away!
- Superman flying. You practically feel like you’re zooming through the air with him – plus bits of his cape are breaking off in LEGO form and it looks magical.
- The Invisible Jet. This is Wonder Woman’s vehicle – blink and you might just miss it!
- Flash Forward. He’s so fast that he actually has speed lines (of LEGO) coming off him!
5. Action Comics No. 1. Nathan took the design of one of the old Action Comics covers with Superman on it and made it 3D with LEGO!
6. Splish Splash. Superheroes need baths too! Aquaman is in a bathtub – complete with rubber ducky!
7. Yellow. This is Nathan Sawaya’s most famous artwork and there are a couple of different versions – including this one of the Joker!
