KZ: Hi Bry! Did you have any hobbies or study any subjects as a child that gave you skills you feel you use at work?
B: I was obsessed with Jurassic Park. I collected all the dinosaurs and classified them into groups. That set me up to be a good entomologist; but instead of dinosaurs, I classify insects!
KZ: Can you share an interesting behind the scenes fact about your job?
B: Museums are libraries of life. Instead of books, scientists study plant and animal specimens. They even post insects to each other in the mail!
KZ: What would K-Zoners be surprised to learn about you?
B: At school I loved doing science and drama. I didn’t know that I could combine both as a job! Drama helped me talk about my research on TV and get people excited about insects.
