KZ: Hi Jeff! Do you have any pre-competition traditions or mental processes that you go through before competing that you find help you focus?
J: I have a breathing technique called 'Belly Breathing' which helps me relax. I also like to have pancakes on game day.
KZ: Are there any other sports you’re keen to watch while you’re in Paris?
J: I would be super keen to watch the skateboarding and basketball at the Olympics.
KZ: What often surprises people when you talk about competitive Breaking?
J: People are often surprised that we have no idea what music we get to break to before we step onto the floor. There is also very limited funding into the sport, so I have been very lucky to be supported by my commercial partners, including Harvey Norman who were the first to come on board and have even given me some headphones to help me jam to my favourite beats to prepare for whatever music I will compete to!
KZ: What’s the most recent move you’ve learned?
J: I haven't learned a recent move but I have been structuring my moves into new combos for the games.
KZ: When you were a child, did you have any hobbies that you believe gave you useful skills for the sport?
J: Skating and basketball are hobbies that gave me useful skills. They gave me control over my body with balance, and how to pace myself during my routines.
