The real art of making a kart race is making the heart pump and upping the pace of a sideways-drifting, leader-shifting showdown! Available On: Switch

Kart racing is all the craze these days. Mario Kart is marvellous, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix is grandiose, and Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is full-throttle fun. Now a new kart competitor is speeding from the rear-view mirror. Chocobo GP has all the motorised mayhem of this high-speed genre. Kooky karts and characters (including one on revving rollerblades), sideways speed boosts, and supercharged, super-sweet pick-ups. Keep a keen eye out for Magicite magic eggs. Fire up foes with a front-firing fire attack. Or make a splash behind to spin-out pesky pursuers. Plus, stacks of others. We dig how stacking Magicites leads to more powerful abilities. Do you patiently wait? Or tactically pop? At these speeds, you’ve gotta act fast! Chuck on your training wheels in the cute Story Mode. Chase racing ghosts in Time Attack to set top times, or toss a Joy-Con to an IRL motor-loving mate for super-satisfying speedster showdowns.

PRO TIP!

Speed boosts are everything in Chocobo GP. The game teaches you the starting boost (accelerate when the timer hits ‘2’). Plus, drifting for long enough on corners to boost. But you should be drifting on straights, too. Drift near the middle of the track for the most control. Boost. Then drift again!
