I recently asked Madame Tussauds Sydney's first Mini Studio Assistant, Zoe, about her experience winning the national competition and flying from Adelaide to Sydney! As the winner, Zoe was taken on a private behind the scenes tour, including an exclusive look inside the off-limits studios, to learn all the Studio Team secrets at the famous celebrity wax figure museum (and the ultimate location for cool celeb selfies)!
Madame Tussauds Sydney held a national competition in early 2020, searching for the first Mini Studio Assistant for a day. Australians between five and 16 years old were asked to submit a creative entry demonstrating their passion for the celeb scene! The winner would be able to assist with the glitz and glam of the celebrity scene and find out what goes into creating the wax works of art!
Zoe submitted three imitations of her fave celebrities; Audrey Hepburn, Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande, and an awesome rhyme to show her enthusiasm!

KZ: Hi Zoe! Congratulations on winning the competition! What was the highlight of your day as a Mini Studio Assistant?
Z: Definitely going behind the scenes and seeing everything you can’t normally see – it made me feel really special.
KZ: Would you like to work in a similar role one day, or do you have a different dream job?
Z: I would love to work at Madame Tussauds one day as it seems like a super fun and interesting job. I also really want to be a doctor.
KZ: Was this your first time in Sydney, or travelling on a plane?
Z: Although I have travelled on a plane many times, it was my first time in Sydney and I was super excited to go!

KZ: What was the most interesting fact or behind the scenes secret you learned at Madame Tussauds?
Z: I learned it takes months to make one wax figure, every single piece of hair is added individually, and each figure costs around $250,000 to make!
KZ: What details should K-Zoners keep an eye out for when they visit?
Z: The details on every wax figure, including the glossy eyes and the well-brushed hair. There are loads of interactive experiences to enjoy, like Bollywood dancing screens, light up fashion runways and more.
