GOLDEN GEAR

There are six shiny bits of golden gear in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Break 100 axes for the Golden Axe. Donate all the bugs and fish to the museum for a Golden Net and a Golden Rod. Save washed-up Gulliver 30 times for a Golden Shovel. Score a five-star Island Evaluation for a Golden Watering Can. And pop 300 balloons then a golden one for the Golden Slingshot.

CRAFTIER TOOLS

While crafting, mash the A button to speed up the crafting process. Have a tool that’s about to go bust? Head to a workbench and customise it to reset the durability back to full. This last trick works on every tool except for flimsy ones and axes.

SCRUFFY DO

Don’t play Animal Crossing: New Horizons for at least 30 days to score a new hairdo. After this breather away from the game, your character will wake up with a serious case of bed hair. Bonus: this bad-hair day is now a selectable hairstyle in the mirror!

FALLING FURNITURE

There are stacks of ways to score new furniture. Buy it. Craft it. Or just shake a tree. You won’t find furniture in fruit trees. But shake every other tree for a chance of random falling gear. Two trees on your island will drop furniture every day. Plus, at least one tree on each mystery island. Get shaking!
