KZ: Hi Krystle and Michelle! Congratulations on winning LEGO Masters: Australia vs The World! Would you consider yourself a ‘Master’ at anything other than LEGO?
K: When I'm not building epic LEGO creations, I'm out in my backyard, ruling over a wild kingdom of lizards, ducks, and all sorts of magical creatures! Picture this: towering trees, colorful flowers, and secret hideaways like a pirate's cove and a tiki hut – it's like having my own secret island paradise! And guess what? I'm not just a master builder, I'm also a yoga lover! I love rolling out my mat under the open sky, surrounded by the soothing greenery of my garden. It's like finding peace and harmony in the midst of all life's craziness. But wait, there's more! I'm also the host of the coolest book club around. We gather in my garden oasis, surrounded by nature's beauty, to dive into thrilling adventures and fantastic tales! Sometimes even IN tails! Mermaid tails that is!
M: I really love art in all different forms, one thing besides LEGO that I love is home design. I wouldn’t call myself a master at it but I do really enjoy it.
KZ: Can you share anything fun that you learned while on the show?
K: Did you know that the growl of a koala was used in Jurassic Park for the T. rex? Yup, those cuddly koalas can roar like the king of dinosaurs! It's like a secret behind-the-scenes fact straight out of a blockbuster movie!
When those LEGO bricks start stressing you out, don't sweat it – literally! Take a break and bust out some jumping jacks! Trust me, it's like a superhero power-up for your brain. Suddenly, ideas will start flowing faster than you can say ‘LEGO Master!’
Here's a golden nugget of wisdom: never ever compare your builds to others. Sure, take a peek around the room to make sure you're on the right track, but remember – your creation is special because it's uniquely yours! Embrace your awesomeness and let your imagination run wild!
M: I learned how hilarious Hamish is. I learned that I can do big things. I still can’t believe that we got to fly to Australia to compete on LEGO Masters! I learned to believe in myself even if my goals seem out of reach. Brickman was worried that we wouldn’t be able to pull off such a big build but we pushed ourselves and never gave up.
KZ: What did you learn from each other’s building styles, and what did you think was a unique advantage of your team as a result of this combination?
K: Here's the real secret to our success: we merged our two styles together! Michelle's super clean and polished look combined perfectly with my lightning-fast and slightly messy building style. I mean, I've got speed when it comes to LEGO – it's like my superpower! By blending our strengths, we created builds that were not only fast but also stunningly detailed. It was like the ultimate LEGO fusion, and it helped us soar to victory in the competition! Who knew that teamwork could be so much fun?
M: Krystle and I had never built together before. We had only actually met one time before going to Australia. We learned a lot about each other along the way. We learned that even though we have very different build styles we could work together and make really wonderful things.
KZ: What’s the secret to surviving a mega build for the Grand Finale challenge?
K: When it comes to tackling a mega build for the Grand Finale, there's one secret weapon that rules them all – RESPECT! Yup, you heard it right. You've gotta respect your partner like a superhero sidekick and know exactly when to swoop in and lend a hand. It's like having each other's backs in the ultimate LEGO showdown! But here's the kicker: communication is the magic ingredient! Keep those lines of chatter buzzing like a hive of busy bees. Make sure you're both vibing on the same wavelength, sharing ideas faster than a speeding LEGO car. When you've got that teamwork groove going, there's no mega build you can't conquer together!
M: I think going into the Grand Finale challenge with a positive attitude and never giving up on ourselves was our superpower.
KZ: Can you recommend a fun LEGO challenge that K-Zoners can try that will enhance their skills?
K: Get ready to rev up your LEGO skills with speed building! Dive into sets under 400 pieces and race against the clock. It's a fast-paced challenge that'll boost your building abilities and test your ninja-like focus!
M: I think a fun challenge to do is to try to replicate and everyday object. My son built a Nintendo Switch out of LEGO and it was so cool!
KZ: To celebrate the July ‘Epic Explorers’ issue, what was the most interesting thing you discovered about Australia? Do you miss anything about Australia?
K: The most epic adventure Down Under was riding tall ships in Sydney Harbour! Sailing on the high seas, with the wind in my hair and the waves beneath my feet. The best part was when I climbed up to the crow's nest, way up high like a real pirate! It was a day I'll never forget!
M: I miss Australia, I would love to take my family back to visit. It is absolutely beautiful there and the people are so friendly.
