Manic Mechanics is paradise for petrolheads. Set in a mechanic’s garage, each mission has you taking on a time limit to fix up hunks of junk by banging busted bits into shape then cramming them into a car. Each workbench has its own micro minigame to help you fix fuel-injectors and do up doors, and as you progress the level layouts get more complicated, with more and more elements to pay attention to, like batteries to manage and hazards to avoid. Manic Mechanics is so-so solo but pulls off a perfect pitstop in co-op. Playing with a friend is turbo-charged chaos and working together to rapidly wrench rust buckets is harder than it sounds! Manic Mechanics is challenging at times, but rarely frustrating, and it’s a whole lot of fun coming back to levels to try and earn a three star rating. Load times could definitely do with a nitro boost, but that’s really the only time this stellar Switcher stalls out.
