FROM THE SHADOWS

You can play as Shadow in the new standalone ‘Shadow Generations’ story campaign, with abilities fans have never seen before! A stack of stages and a new storyline? Count us in! Shadow is a blisteringly fast super-powered speedster, but he also has his own style, skating along like a boss and warping to enemies with his homing attack! The Ultimate Life Form’s nemesis, Black Doom, has returned and is threatening to take over the world again. How annoying. The alien army leader caused trouble for Shadow in his orig game, Shadow the Hedgehog.

DOOM AND BOOM

To stop Black Doom this time, Shadow must travel into his past and confront painful memories. He will also unlock new dark powers that might be helpful for saving the world! The new Doom Powers enable Shadow to battle enemies and face new platforming challenges, like surfing, flying, and stopping time. Yes, Chaos Control has returned! Shadow being able to sprout giant black wings is pretty epic. Help Shadow as he tries to figure out the messy timeline and thwart Black Doom’s evil plans! Shadow’s campaign leads to a big finale and a boss fight against Black Doom that’s sure to test your skills and reflexes.

RELIVE AND RETURN

There are signature levels from previous adventures with Shadow, and thanks to Black Doom’s warping influence, you can also try your hand at stages in 3D and 2D. You’ll be able to spin dash through iconic stages from previous Sonic games, with updated visuals and cinematics. There’s also a new hub world that feels inspired by the style of Sonic Frontiers – enjoy the open-zone experience in the new White Space hub! Your Doom Powers help to access secrets and new areas in there. If you’re hoping for new collectables and bonus content, there’s plenty of that too! You need to rescue Chaos hiding in each level, and don’t forget to check out the museum for art from behind the scenes, fun music, and more!

MOVIE MAYHEM

Shadow is also hitting the big screen in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 this year! Since we saw Shadow in cryosleep at the end of Sonic The Hedgehog 2, we reckon he will be a big part of the story!

SONIC STORY

The new Shadow stages are definitely exciting, but we haven’t forgotten that the Blue Blur is included in Sonic x Shadow Generations too! SEGA have added updated visuals and cinematics for the original Sonic Generations side of the game as well. Sonic’s story in Sonic Generations starts as he’s tucking into an epic chilli dog (natch) at his birthday picnic. A mysterious menace appears in the sky, and sucks all Sonic’s friends into strange portals, hurtling them through time and space. Can Sonic rescue his crew and defeat The Time Eater? Only with a little help from… himself! Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic collide!

ALL THE DIMENSIONS

Since this is a time travel tale, all the levels in Sonic Generations pull from past Sonic stages, making this a tops trip down memory lane. Better still, each setting has a classic 2D version and a furiously fast 3D thrill-ride to blitz through. It’s super sweet sprinting through iconic locations like Green Hill in two different dimensions.

SEEK OUT THE STARS

Sonic games are geared around going fast, but sometimes you’ll need to slow down and look around if you want to sniff out all the secrets. If you find all five of the red star rings in both acts of a zone, you can unlock sweet ‘skills’ like boosting Sonic’s speed or letting him stay underwater for longer. It’s a kick!
