This Week's Sports Highlights

This Week's Sports Highlights

Lou gives you all the updates you need for sport this week, including AFL, surfing, NRL, Cricket, NBL, football and more!

Hey K-Zoners!

It’s been such a rad week in sport and so much happened in just a few days! I know you all like different sports, so I’ve included a whole bunch in my highlights. Did I miss your favourite? Let me know in the comments below so I can write about it next week!

Matildas Football

1. After an epic 2-1 win over DPR Korea in Japan, the Matildas qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games! I can’t wait to see them take home the gold in August.

AFL update

2. Western Bulldogs took on Melbourne Demons in the 2016 AFL NAB Challenge. Here’s Mitch Honeychurch of the Bulldogs being tackled by Dom Tyson and Jack Viney of the Demons. Melbourne won the game by 12 points.

Surfing updates

3. Aussie pro surfer Dion Atkinson became the Mens Champion at the annual Australian Open of Surfing at Manly Beach in Sydney. This is Dion displaying mad skills during the final. Yewwww!

NRL updates

4. Souths smashed the Roosters in the NRL! The score was 42-10. In my last post, I wrote that it would be a close one, but the Bunnies were just too good on the day.

Cricket updates

5. Victoria and Queensland battled it out on the cricket pitch as part of the Sheffield Shield. This is Chris Hartley of Queensland batting during day two. Queenslanders will be stoked to know that their team won by a massive 100 runs!

NBL

6. Winners! Perth Wildcats defeated New Zealand Breakers 75-52 to claim their seventh NBL championship. (Gotta love that selfie stick!)

A League

7. Perth Glory moved into an A-League finals spot after a 2-0 win over Newcastle Jets at nib Stadium in Perth. Here’s Josh Risdon of the Glory crossing the ball against Ryan Kitto of the Jets on the night!

Catch you next week!
