These crazy elephant relos once lived all over the world, including Eurasia and North America and weighed over 9 tonnes - that's a hefty heifer! Their huge tusks could get up to five metres long (scientists reckon they used them to plow snow away from tasty plants underneath) and they were classed as megafauna, which basically means: huge animal dudes!
When the last Ice Age finished (that's 10,000 years ago!), the world got a bit too toasty for these guys. With fur up to a metre long, anything above zero degrees is going to feel pretty balmy. They eventually became extinct, leaving their tropical cousins (elephants) behind to represent!
