Playing Now: A Highland Song

Playing Now: A Highland Song

This trek through the wild Scottish countryside will test your tenacity as you tackle the tough terrain, make out maps and try to find the way forward. This game is for older K-Zoners! Available On: PC, SWITCH

Running away from home is a dangerous thing to do at the best of times, but when Moira McKinnon runs away it’s so she can cross the Scottish Highlands to visit her uncle by the sea. This means hiking through rugged, unforgiving terrain. It means climbing cliffs, sliding down slopes, sheltering from storms and creeping through caves. The Highlands are huge and covered by criss-crossing paths, so no two journeys will ever be the same. You’ll discover hand-drawn maps that reveal secret paths, but only after you’ve climbed to the nearest peak to match the map to the landscape. You’ll meet strange folk out in the wilds and collect curious objects that might come in handy. You’ll even run alongside deer, leaping in time to upbeat traditional Scottish tunes. A Highland Song’s world is magical but challenging, so maybe set out on this journey with an older sibling or parent.

PRO TIP!

Pick up everything you find! A lot of objects will have map fragments inside, while others might be useful later on. Also be sure to let Moira properly catch her breath when she’s puffed out. She’ll stand tall when she’s ready to continue.
