A BIT OF ALRIGHT

Star Bits are critical to collect, and you can grab them from afar by sweeping your Star Pointer over them. It takes practice to move while aiming but it’s worth it. Not only are Star Bits used to feed Hungry Lumas, but hoover up 100 and you’ll land an extra life. (It’s 50 in the first Galaxy!)

Need to restock your lives? Explore Starship Mario and you’ll find a few. One easy option is to head to Mario’s huge honker and summit the schnozz using a backflip. Crack Yoshi’s egg and hop atop the prehistoric pet. Use its tongue to grapple to the platform above and eat all ten pieces of fruit for a 1-Up.

See Luigi in a level? Have a chat and you’ll be able to play through as the green garbed guy! The Big L may even help you out in a future level or unlock a tricky time trial. And once you’ve beaten Galaxy 2, you can play as Luigi whenevs by heading through the “L” door on Starship Mario.
