Playing Now: Minit Fun Racer

We race into a chat with Kitty Calis, who worked with Jan Willem Nijman, Jukio Kallio and Dominik Johann to build Minit Fun Racer! All proceeds from this game go to charities - forever! Available On: PC

KZ: Hi Kitty! Why did you want to make a racing spin-off to Minit?

K: Minit originally had some cars in the parking lot next to the hotel. Those were cut from the final game but never forgotten!

KZ: What are the similarities between the two games?

K: Minit’s core is a world filled with little secrets and charm. Fun Racer is no different!

KZ: What are your favourite Easter eggs in the game?

K: There’s a lot, but if I had to pick one it’d be the midnight ghosts. They only appear at midnight and Halloween!

KZ: What were the most fun bits to create?

K: Very quickly we realised there’s a joy in trying to hit as many trash cans in a row as possible. So we decided to turn that into a rocket-boost upgrade!

KZ: How’d you decide to send all Minit Fun Racer proceeds to charity forever?

K: I’d been thinking about it for quite some time. It was mostly a matter of getting the band back together, plus the right situation.

KZ: How do you pick which charities the funds go to?

K: We’re aware that there are many, many, many people who need a helping hand. Especially now. There are a few charities. First up is Doctors Without Borders.

KZ: Yuup! What advice do you have for K-Zoners looking to become game devs?

K: Finishing games matters. There’s really nothing too small. Each project is different and you’ll learn so much along the way.
