MYSTERY MOST WATERFOWL
The first Duck Detective game is The Secret Salami and it came out last year. It’s a parody of ‘hard-boiled’ detective thrillers so has plenty of twists and turns… but also a goofy sense of humour. Its story starts out as a simple search for a stolen snack but soon becomes a cured meat mystery!
A CLASSIC CAST
Eugene McQuacklin is a down-on-his-luck duck with a bad bread habit and no money to his name. How will he pay his bills? By taking on any case he can stick his beak into. Other characters in The Secret Salami include a K-Pop loving giraffe, a surly sci-fi superfan penguin and a burly boss bear. But who is the Salami Bandit?
CRUISE FOR CLUES
To solve the case the Duck Detective needs to interview suspects, gather evidence and use his magnifying glass. When you’ve gathered enough intel you can make ‘de-duck-tions’ by completing sentences that reveal facts about the case. There are other types of puzzles to solve too, such as working out the code for a safe or finding a hidden message in a note.
HELP IS ON THE WAY
Duck Detective is aimed at gamers of all ages but if you’re new to this style of adventure, it has a few funky features to help you out! We’d recommend choosing Story Mode at the very beginning, cos that way you’ll get more feedback when you get something wrong. There’s also a heaps helpful hint system you can use at any time!
DUCK BILL CIPHER
We reckon there’s a good chance that Duck Detective was inspired by one of our all-time fave TV series – Gravity Falls. In that show, Dipper, Mabel, Stan and the gang all watch a TV drama called Duck-Tective, which stars a crime-solving duck. This Duck Detective may not have a human sidekick or an evil twin, but the similarities are still striking!
GLAMP IT UP!
The next game in the series is called The Ghost of Glamping and sees the Duck Detective team up (reluctantly) with Freddy from the first game to investigate a haunted campsite. Are there real ghosts? Or just the ghosts of the downtrodden duck’s past? We’ll be drawn to this like a duck to water when it comes out later this year!
