Test your skills (and your patience) with this speedy new approach to NES classics – and attempt to achieve an elusive S rank! Available On: Switch

Ever watched a speedrunner play one of your favourite games? Did you find yourself thinking, ‘I could do that!’ or was your jaw on the floor witnessing their skills? In this challenging new game, you can find out where your speedrunning abilities rank! You get to jump into a specific section of classic Nintendo games, and discover the type of precision a speedrunner needs to achieve perfection. The game is basically a big celebration of the orig series of competitions from the 90s, and also the popularity of speedrunning online now! The main single-player mode is ‘Speedrun’, where players try to achieve their fastest times in 150 mini-challenges across 13 awesome NES titles, including Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Kirby’s Adventure, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and more! If you don’t leave the experience with total respect for the best speedrunners in the world, we’ll be shocked! Once you finish an unlockable challenge (like collecting the sword in The Legend of Zelda), you are given a letter grade, like A or A+. Of course, the further you progress, the harder the challenges become. Eventually, you’ll realise you’re already frustrated by playing only a small section of a game for a speedrun – imagine trying to speedrun the entire game! The other modes are ‘World Championships’, ‘Survival Mode’, and ‘Party Mode’. In World Championships, you speedrun five different challenges each week, and the time is placed on the online leaderboard. Playing Survival Mode is all about facing the ghosts of players around in the world in a battle-royale with three rounds. You can jump into Party Mode with up to eight players in local multiplayer to compete against each other.

Watch the K-Zone Team play and rank the classic games in Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition!
