Here’s a joke for you. What is a witch’s favourite subject in school? Spelling! If she’s no good at it? She gets ex-spelled! I know, I know, there’s no broom for gags with so little charm. So, erm, what’s this magical adventure all about? Well, Mika is an aspiring witch who has travelled to the picturesque island of Mont Gaun and starts working for the local delivery company. Why? She needs money to upgrade her broom so that she can reach the top of the mountain at the island’s centre and visit the powerful witch who lives there. Flying around really does look like soar much fun, and there are lots of different townsfolk to get to know as you do jobs for them. With stacks of secrets to discover and a colourful, cartoony art style, Mika and the Witch’s Mountain feels so inviting we can’t wait to spend time in its wondrous world.
DID YOU KNOW?
Mika’s story and setting are inspired by Kiki’s Delivery Service, the classic Studio Ghibli film about a young witch in training who moves to an unfamiliar town and starts her own delivery service. The visuals, meanwhile, are a love letter to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Killer combo!
