Take The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and subtract 100 years. What do you get? Hundreds more enemies in peon-packed prequel Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity! That shadowy backstory that’s teased in Breath of the Wild is what this game is all about. ’Cept instead of exploring a massive map, you’re taking on epic battles in that same space. Jump into the speedy boots of legendary Link as you slash and bash your way through waves of foes. Then switch it up between zealous Zelda. Impassable Impa. Plus, the four Champs from Breath of the Wild. We love how differently they play. Like, Link’s linking strikes are totes familiar. But Impa’s magical-teleporting, doppelganger-summoning attacks are next-level awesome. They’ll send stacks of Bokoblins hobblin’ and even lay down Lynels. Take the regular slaps. Splice them with strong strikes. Special attacks. And combo them all with sweet Sheikah Rune ruinings to clout the clods of foes.
PRO TIP!
Avoid the objective. At least for a little while. Whenever the game has a flashing objective icon telling you to go one way, take your time battling to it the long way. Why? This is where you have a chance of stocking up on EZ items and EZier KOs. Plus, expect to find tucked-away treasures, too!
