All you do is pick a setting and look through the game’s collection of pixel art pieces to build a house. There are stacks of options to pop into place and use as walls, doors, windows, roofs and decoration, and you’ll unlock more as you go. This little sandbox really is about just relaxing and being creative, and there’s no right way or wrong way to play. There are four backdrops to choose from, including a lush meadow and a rocky, dusty desert, and you can change the scene from a clear day to a rainy one, or even to night time, and see how your cosy cottage looks. What do you want to build? A cute cafe? A mega manor? Or a heavenly home, sweet home?

Trial and error is a big part of the fun in Summerhouse. You won’t always know what a piece actually looks like or how large it will be until you select it, so give each element a try! You can always rewind your actions if you don’t like the result.
