SWEET HISUI TIPS
If you’re taking your first steps in the Hisui region of Pokémon Legends Arceus, or have been trekking through the world for a while, you might be interested to know that different weather does more than change the scenery – and you can control the climate! In the game, there are four times of day: morning, midday, evening, and nightfall. Those different sections impact the weather, varying from sunny and cloudy to rainy and snowing! Speeding up the changes in weather can be beneficial for battling with certain types of Pokemon, or catching ‘em. For example, Legendary Thundurus only spawns in a thunderstorm on the sea by the Cobalt Coastlands – regular or light rain won’t count. Sliggoo will also only evolve into Goodra during rainy or foggy weather in Hisui!
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF POKEMON
Want to manipulate the time, and affect the weather? Once the first map is fully available to you, you can change the weather by heading to any Base Camp on the map where you want to control the conditions (or your home in Jubilife Village). Click on the tent and pick a time of day you would like to sleep until – or chat to the Galaxy Member on the left and pick ‘I want to rest’ instead. Choose the time you want the weather to be in, and sleep. If you don’t get the weather you want, select the same time again and sleep… again. Repeat until you wake up to the weather you desire! If you’re not sure, you can check the climate by opening your map and looking at the symbol next to your location.
MOON MENTION
This process also works for forcing a full moon to appear. Keep switching to night time using the same steps – you can check the current moon phase in the map menu too! You’ll thank us when you want to evolve Ursaring into Ursaluna with a Peat Block in the Crimson Mirelands… this Pokémon will only transform under a full moon!
SNOW BIG DEAL
Snow is a new Ice-based weather effect introduced in Arceus, with hail being the only favourable effect for Ice-type Pokémon. Snowy weather in locations like Coronet Highlands and Alabaster Icelands will give Ice-type Pokémon an advantage (boosting their speed), but all other Pokémon can be afflicted with Frostbite if fighting in snow. Their HP will be reduced each turn and their Special Attack stat will be decreased. A non-Ice-type Pokémon with drowsy status condition is also less likely to do anything in a single turn. Try changing the weather to a sunny situation as often as you can in these locations to prevent Frostbite.
