MONKEY MANIA

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is the latest, greatest game. And it’s the perf happy birthday to the supes silly series! This remaster rolls the best of the first three outings into one delicious dish. Tilting the stage is all the rage for bouncing your ball-bound bud to victory. Familiar faces from other games are joining in on the fresh fun too – Sonic and Tails are free and unlockable playable characters! There are more paid DLC characters available when the game arrives on October 5 and more to come post-launch.

NEW NOMS

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania stuffs in some sweet new stuff. Like, leaderboards to compare times. Rolly ball customisation. Or lose time in the tense time-attack mode and frantic four-player multi. Plus, peel into the all-new jump and time-slowing abilities (if you’re stuck on a stage that’s making you go bananas)!

ORIG ROLL

The orig game didn’t even have Super in the game name. We’re super serious! Monkey Ball was an arcade game with a bonkers banana-shaped joystick (natch). Later that year, Sega snuck the “Super” into the game name for the first Super Monkey Ball console release.

KOOKY CHARACTERS

Four monkey mates have been there since the start of the series. Banana-lover AiAi and his wife Meemee. She reckons AiAi loves bananas more than her! Plus, their diaper-filling boy Baby. Later, GonGon swung from big bad to best bud. Then colourful YanYan and bonkers-inventor Doctor traipsed into the tight troop.

NUMBERS GAME

There are stacks of sequels and spin-offs to the orig Super Monkey Ball. Like, 21 games in 20 years! But there are only two game names with numbers. Super Monkey Ball 2 was the first full-fledged official follow-up. Plus, nine years later, Super Monkey Ball 3D for the beloved Nintendo 3DS!

MONKEY GAP

Between 2001 and 2014, the Super Monkey Ball series had 19 game releases. It’s gone quiet since then. There was a five-year banana-breather between Super Monkey Ball Bounce and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD. Banana Blitz HD makes up for the wait by peeling back the orig 50 minigames into the 10 best ones!
