POWERSLIDE PERFECTION
Shellshock your sister and blast your brother in the Switch’s best kart racer, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This game is as frantically fun as ever, and keeps on expanding! Thanks to the Booster Course Pass it will have 48 additional courses and a handful of new racers (Kamek!) by the end of the year. The supplemental speedways even include real life locations like Sydney!
GARGANTUAN GOOD TIMES
Become a hero or monster the size of a skyscraper and duke it out across delightfully destructible environments in GigaBash. Up to four players can join in the chaos, and each of the powerful pugilists you can choose from has a range of ground-shaking, building-levelling attacks, throws and special moves. Plus, the Kaiju DLC adds Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and more to the riotous roster!
YOU’RE TOAST
A battle over breakfast, anyone? In Toasterball’s bite-sized arenas, each player controls a toaster, flinging themselves and their bread about to try and knock the ball into the other side’s goal. It’s super silly and the physics-based controls are tricky to get the hang of, but every stage offers a new twist, from an old school 2D Pong play area to a lava level. Don’t burn the toast!
ANNELID AVENGERS
This game is for Older K-Zoners. The Worms games are all about miniature mayhem and see squads of these tiny tackers face off on fully destructible maps armed with everything from IRL arsenals to weird weapons like the Super Sheep and Concrete Donkey. Don’t forget jet packs and ninja ropes too! The controls are complex, but mistakes can be as hilarious as a hit, so get a wriggle on and play our pick: Worms W.M.D.
KEN YOU DEFEAT ME?
This game is for Older K-Zoners. The latest in the series that launched the fighting genre is dragon punching perfection. Street Fighter 6 boasts a killer cast of characters both old and new, and totes a tonne of massive modes. Better still, it’s also one of the most welcoming fighters around, thanks to its new control scheme that lets you do special moves with simple Super Smash Bros.-style commands. It’s Ryu good.
A LEAGUE OF ITS OWN
Cars playing soccer with a ball the size of a room might sound strange, but with the ability to boost, launch into the air and perform a variety of flips, Rocket League is infinitely playable. It’s also an absolute hoot with mates, whether you’re going one on one or teaming up for some four player split-screen stunts.
