A-Z Guide: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

A-Z Guide: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on Switch!

Ascend: Unlock this ability at Gutanbac Shrine – it’s handy for solving puzzles, dodging enemies and morphing through ceilings.

Black Bokoblins: Want to pick a fight with this enemy? Find ‘em in Gerudo Desert or Hyrule Ridge Depths.

Camera: Complete the Camera Work in the Depths quest and this item is yours. Take a selfie by pressing X!

Depths: Travel to The Depths to unlock Autobuild or to find Majora’s Mask. It’s a dark down there, so find Lightroots to, err, lighten things up.

Eightfold Blade: Look inside a chest dropped by a Like Like to see if you can nab one.

Fuse: The parts that drop from tough enemies (like Hinox) are the best for fusing to your weapons.

Ganondorf: Getting ready to defeat the Demon King? Stock up on food made with Sundelions and pack stacks of shields.

Highland Stable: If you’re exploring the Faron Region, this a good place to leave your horse and recharge your health. You’ll find the Flute Player’s Plan side quest here too.

Iceless Icehouse: It’s-a side quest! Make a perfectly sized block of ice for Anche and she’ll give you 50 rupees.

Jewellery: Wearing opal earrings will increase your swimming speed, while popping on a sapphire circlet will cool you down in hot climates.

Knight’s Shield: Find one in the Tabantha Frontier Depths, equip it, then press ZL to block attacks!

Link Archer amiibo: Got one of these Breath of the Wild amiibos lying around? Scan it for rewards like themed paraglider fabric, ingredients, fish, bows and arrows.

Map of Hyrule: Reveal it in full by finding all the Skyview Towers.

No Sheikah Towers: Breath of the Wild fans will notice the Sheikah Towers have been replaced with Skyview Towers. There are 15. Use them to paraglide to nearby places.

One-handed Weapons: Our favourite is the Master Sword, of course. Get it back by trekking through the Lost Woods and defeating Phantom Ganon.

Paraglider: Just the most useful item in the game. Want to glide longer distances? Upgrade your stamina.

Queen Gibdo: AKA the boss of the Lightning Temple. Boss fight tip: take down her army of Gibdos with bomb flowers.

Recall: Use it in combat. If any enemy throws something at you, quickly select Recall to toss it right back at ‘em!

Shrines: There are 152. We had a lot of fun finding Ren-iz Shrine in Central Hyrule – it’s hidden inside a tree stump.

Tulin: Put on some cold-resistant clothes and head to the top of Rito Village to find him.

Ultrahand: We like to call it the green glue. Use it to create your dream ride. Some ToTK players have even crafted TIE Fighters with it!

Vehicles: Sure, you could build a hot air balloon, car or raft with the Ultrahand and Fuse abilities, but we like to get around by skateboard. Just fuse together a shield and a minecart and you’ve got one.

Wells and Caves: You’ll spot wells near settlements and stables, and caves near cliffs. Explore them to find treasure and materials.

X-treme Cold: Build up your cold resistance by cooking recipes with spicy peppers. Recipes like sauteed peppers and pepper steak will do the trick.

Yiga Mask: It keeps breath sounds to a minimum so it’s perfect for sneaking, but it’s really light so doesn’t give you much protection.

Zelda’s Adventure: Find Dragon Tears and you’ll be able to piece together what Zelda’s been up to since the start of the game.
