Super Mario RPG was Mario’s first role playing game and starred Peach and Bowser alongside the man with the moustache. Its wacky ‘tude gave us a whole new look at the Mushroom Kingdom, and the turn-based combat ruled too! You could use Action Commands to amp up attacks and double down on defence. Now coming out in a radical Switch remake!

BOWSER 

Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door is all time! Peach gets kidnapped by the X-Nauts and Bowser is not happy. He’s meant to be the one who does that! Mario teams up with a Koopa Troopa, Goomba and more, and can do things like fold himself into a paper plane or a boat! A Switch version will hit stores next year!

MULTI-DIMENSIONAL

Super Paper Mario looks just like other 2D Mario platformers… until you press a button to reveal that the portly plumber is actually running along a 3D path! There are stacks of secrets to find by switching perspectives, but Mario’s abilities don’t stop there! He gets bonus perks from Pixl partners, like being able to shrink down to become a miniscule Mario!

A GUTSY ADVENTURE

In Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, Bowser proves once and for all that he sucks… literally! The big brute opens his giant jaws and inhales Mario and pals, sending them on an adventure through his insides! You can even switch between Bowser and the petite plumbers, and sometimes have to help the Koopa King out, or fight foes he swallows.

PAPERCRAFT PLAY

When King Olly folds Princess Peach into a papercraft puppet and wraps her castle in streamers, there’s only one thing Mario can do - crease, crumple and crush the bad guy’s origami army and save the day! Paper Mario: The Origami King’s papery presentation is next level and the new circular combat arena is a fresh way to fight against folded fiends.

JUST PEACHY

Mario + Rabbids is a crazy combo, and Sparks of Hope ups the ante with a wild story and loads of LOLs. You’ll need your tactical A game in battle though, keeping in cover, activating abilities and mastering team-up moves to get the head-bop on your eccentric enemies. Each character has upgrades galore and can supercharge their strats with help from Sparks.
