Some games are all about blockbuster graphics, huge open worlds and tales of high deeds and derring do. Wilmot Works It Out is not one of those grand sagas. This is a game about jigsaw puzzles, and the simple pleasure of completing pictures. You are Wilmot – a little rectangular face who lives in a hand-drawn house. Every so often a postwoman knocks on the front door to deliver a box of puzzle pieces. You open them out onto the floor and move about grabbing pieces and rearranging them to discover the picture. Most boxes have pieces for more than one puzzle, so you’re often working on several images at once and waiting for more pieces to arrive. The puzzles are all quite small so this never gets frustrating, and the artwork is simply stunning – just what you’d expect from the developers behind games like Flock and Hohokum. Want something a little different? Why not Wilmot?!
GAME NINJA TIP!
Don’t stress if you’re not sure where to put some of the pieces you’re working with. Just move similar colours, patterns or shapes close to one another and try to look for obvious connections. Once you’ve joined a few blocks together, the rest will often fall into place.
