LIFE SAVER

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has a heaps handy secret backup function. If you’ve lost progress, try this. Load up the game. On the title screen, press X, B and up at the same time. This should open a new screen. Select the ‘Start from Backup data’ option and get playing!

SPEED BOOST

Got a spare Joy-Con on hand? First, play in handheld mode. Connect the second Joy-Con to your Switch. This next bit requires a funky handgrip (or a helper). Move the left Joy-Con on your Switch at an angle to move. Mirror that angle on the second Joy-Con to boost speed!

SHINY DUPLICATES

Head out near any town. Catch a Pokémon you want to clone. Now run or ride back into town. Get into town until you see the town name appear. Save your game. Now close it. Head back to where you caught the Pokémon for a cloned one!

SAFE SOUTH

Getting stomped all the time? You might be hanging around too much in the north. Stick south early on to find your feet. Learnt the ropes? Start finding Trainers and wild Pokémon towards the middle of the map. Fully confident? Head north for the toughest brawls!

LEGENDARY PATH

There are three Treasure Hunt choices. But start with The Path of Legends. This path pits you against Titan Pokémon. They have rad fights. Plus, each Titan tussle teaches new abilities. These abilities are heaps handy in the other paths (and the rest of the game)!

SNEAKY EDGE

Found a Pokémon you want to catch? Get close. Now press the B button. This will lob the Poké Ball at the Pokémon while its back is turned. The Pokémon will be surprised. Plus, you’ll get the guaranteed first move in the battle!
